Corporate Sales Meetings and Start-Ups

Recently I was invited by a leading Manufacturer of Diving Equipment to present our Dive Computer Training service at their Sales Meeting.

And this made me wonder about the "good old days" when, as an executive in the semiconductor industry, I attended so many sales meetings in exotic locations.

Then, almost ten years ago, I left the big corporations for my own start-up; no more sales meetings, much less resources, longer working days, smaller paychecks .... and so on.
Why did I do that?

It was nice to be back presenting to a room full of people, eager to listen, asking questions .... sincerely interested in what I was showing them.
And it was OUR product they were discussing; made by the company I started. Maybe they are not going to buy it ... but I was so proud about it anyway!

Do I miss the beers, parties, fun and the camaraderie of those Corporate Sales Meetings? Sure.

Do I enjoy working in my small Start-Up, see it growing day by day, nurturing it step by step? You bet!.

r11 Simulator Coming Soon
Spearguns and more

We are putting the final touches on the r11 version of the simulator that we plan to release early September.
r11 contains several fixes and improvements with the most notables being the support for spearguns and other type of weapons, a more functional collision algorithm for the diver (no more jitter when diving in confined spaces), schools of fishes and more interactions with marine life.

Also, r11 contains several hooks that will facilitate the creation of missions: check out the "weapons training" one for an example.

Unboxing the Oceanic OC1 Limited Edition Dive Computer
We get to see, dive and test lots of dive computers (we have about 60 of them in our office these days) Oceanic OC1 LE dive computerand when a new one gets announced, sooner or later the manufacturer sends us a sample :-)
That was the case for the brand new Oceanic OC1 Limited Edition Pioneer dive computer which was recently announced by Oceanic.

We really liked the box it came in - and we also liked the fact that Oceanic will give a FREE OC1 Online Class to every customer that registers his/her new OC1-LE.

We liked this so much that we decided to make a very cool video:
San Clemente Eel Point
New dive site added to the Simulator
San Clemente Island eel pointEel Point reef is a massive reef almost 1,000m long and 300m wide running east to west located on the west side of San Clemente Island at GPS coordinates 32 55 12.26N and 118 33 19.93 W
The central part of the reef is quite shallow with depth in the 30 to 40ft range but the west side drops down quickly to depths well beyond recreational diving levels.

The terrain is quite rich with lots of peaks and canyons with few valleys here and there and if you like deep diving, check out the massive walls on the west side.

A new diver....
Here August 's "Post of the Month" from amarshall; representing the Y generation.
"Thanks for creating eDiving. I was told about this simulator a little over a year ago, so I tried it. When I tried it, I immediately thought to myself how amazing this simulator was. After a few months of using eDiving, I decided that I wanted to become a scuba diver!! So I did. Now, I use the simulator almost every day, and I can enjoy it even more since I am a scuba diver. I would have never become a scuba diver if it wasn't for eDiving, Alberto, and the DiveNav team! Thanks, DiveNav!"
