Social Networks ...

According to Wikipedia, "A social network is a social structure made of individuals (or organizations) called "nodes," which are tied (connected) by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as friendship, kinship, common interest, financial exchange, dislike, sexual relationships, or relationships of beliefs, knowledge or prestige."

Few years ago ...... when I was working for one of the leading semiconductor companies developing the engines inside ANALOG MODEMS (yes, I am THAT old) and the Internet was still an infant ... the closest we had to an electronic social network were BBS .... then the World Wide Web came bringing along precious gifts such as Mosaic and Geocities .... and here we are today; always connected, Twitting away and making sure our Linkedin and Facebook profiles are updated.

If you recently visited our sites (eDiving and DiveComputerTraining), you might have noticed that we made them more "social networking" friendly. And the same is happening with the simulator; now when you visit the virtual HMCS Yukon - and you find the time capsule, your messages will be shown on our sites, on the CSTR Yukon site and soon they will also be automatically posted on your FaceBook and Twitter accounts.

Expanding Social Networks to underwater ? Virtually for now but for real in a not too distant future? What do You think ?

Just remember that your target audience is only 6 connections away !

Sincerely,Alberto Mantovani

HMCS Yukon - 10 Years Anniversary
Leave a message in the Time Capsule

Our HMCS Yukon is turning to a teen and California Ship To Reef is planning yukon coinan exciting two-day event to celebrate her 10th anniversary.

The most dramatic part of the whole event will be the underwater press conference and ceremony on July 15th during which specially trained divers will place a time capsule on the Yukon.

This time capsule will include, along other mementos, a computer drive with messages from the alumni of the Project Yukon sinking team.

We have collaborated with CSTR to allow virtual divers to participate in this historical event too; for a small donation - directly to CSTR - you will be able to include YOUR message in the real time capsule, but first you will need to virtually dive the HMCS Yukon using the eDiving simulator, find the virtual time capsule and write a message in it.
